Keyboard/mouse interface

This section describes the interface you'll use if you're using a desktop or laptop machine with a keyboard and mouse.

  • To select a square in the puzzle, just move the mouse onto the square. (No click is necessary.) Then you may enter a number in that square. You may select several squares at once by pressing the mouse button down on one square and then dragging it across additional squares.
  • Once you've selected a square or squares, use your keyboard or the numbered buttons below the puzzle to enter a value in that/those square(s).
  • You can enter more than one number in a single square. This gives you the opportunity to enter several possibile values as you're working out the solution to the puzzle. If you enter a number that's already in the square, that number will be removed from the square.
  • Entering an X in a square will clear the square of all the values it contains.
  • Entering an R in a square will reveal the correct value for that square.
  • Entering an H reveals the correct value in a randomly-selected square.
  • You may also use the buttons at the bottom of the screen below the puzzle to perform the CLEAR, REVEAL, and HINT operations.
  • The CLEAR ENTIRE BOARD button does just that, enabling you to clear the board and start over. To avoid accidents, you need to double-click on this button to clear the board.
  • Two radio buttons allow you to choose how to display multiple values in a single square, either in the order they were entered, or in increasing order.
